Agentic Payments

Agentic payments are payments that AI agents prepare and route on your behalf, choosing the best rail for cost, speed, and corridor, with a human approving each move. The agent does the work of deciding how and when to pay; the person confirms.

Agentic Payments

Definition

Agentic payments are payments handled by AI agents instead of a person assembling each one by hand. The agent decides how and when to pay, picks the rail (ACH, wire, SEPA, RTP, FedNow, or stablecoin) for cost, speed, and corridor, prepares the payment, and presents it for approval. A human approves the move before money leaves.

This is different from payment automation that simply fires a pre-set rule. An agent reasons about the full picture (the cash position, the forecast, the due date, the corridor) and proposes the move that fits, then waits for sign-off.

How it works

  1. The agent sees what is due and what cash is available across every account.
  2. It chooses the rail and timing that cost the least and arrive on time.
  3. It drafts the payment and explains the reasoning.
  4. A person approves it. The money moves over regulated bank rails.
  5. The move is logged with a full, exportable audit trail.

Why a human stays in the loop

Moving money is high-stakes, so control matters more than full autonomy. Agentic payments keep a person on every move above your threshold. You get the speed of an agent doing the preparation with the safety of human approval and a complete record. Humans stay in the loop on every move.

How TreasuryPath approaches it

TreasuryPath drafts and routes payments across banks and rails as part of its agentic cash management platform, with a human approving every move. It starts read-only and enables money movement only when you are ready. Payment services for US customers are provided by Airwallex US, LLC (NMLS #1928093), a licensed money transmitter in most states.
